THE EFFECT OF HEALTH LITERACY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AMONG THE ELDERLY IN NAPHAI SUB – DISTRICT, MUENG CHAIYAPHUM DISTRICT, CHAIYAPHUM PROVINCE

Abstract
The aimed to study the effects of health literacy development program among the elderly in naphai sub – district, mueng chaiyaphum district, chaiyaphum province. The purposive sampling was use to selected 30 participants. The research instrument was composed of the health literacy development program. The reliability of the questionnaire regarding the health literacy in the knowledge part was verified using KR-20, obtaining a value of 0.72. The rest of the questionnaire on health literacy in terms of access to information and health services, health communication, decision making, self management and media literacy were tested using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, yielding values of, 0.85, 0.85, 0.87, 0.81 and 0.83 respectively. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-test. The results revealed that after enrolling the program, mean score of health literacy was higher than that before the program implementation with statistically significance at .05 (p <0.001).
