THE CREATION OF SKILLS EXERCISE BY USING THE SQ5R TEACHING METHOD TO IMPROVE CRITICAL READING JUDGEMENT FOR MATHAYOM SUKSA 5 STUDENTS

Abstract

The purpose of the research was 1) toestablish and determine the effectiveness of critical reading judgement training materials analytically using the SQ5R method bythe Mathayomsuksa 5 students according to criteria 80/80, 2) to compare the ability to read and judge critically before and after organizing learning activity using the critical reading judgement training materials 3) to study the satisfaction of Mathayomsuksa 5 students towards critical reading judgement training materials. The sample group consisted of 30 students from Mathayomsuksa 5/1. semester 2 of the academic year 2022 which was obtained by purposive sampling. The research instruments were 1)Critical reading judgement training material 2) Lesson plan by utilizing the SQ5R method together with training material 3)Critical reading judgement ability test 4) Students’ satisfaction questionnaire with critical reading judgement material that utilizes SQ5R. The data were analyzed with mean, standard deviation, dependent t–test, and efficiency proportion values (E₁/E₂). The research was founded that: 1) The construction of critical reading judgement training material to be efficiency (E₁/E₂) values of 88.96/87.00 which higher than 80/80 criterion 2) The average score of critical reading judgement skill during the Pretest and Post-test after learning with critical reading judgement training material and SQ5R were 19.47 and 27.13, which the post-test score significantly higher than the pretest and higher than the statistically different score at .05 level. 3) the overall satisfaction of the students toward the training material construct and plan by using the SQ5R method was the most satisfied (X̅ =4.60, S.D. = 0.20)
