TEACHING APPROACHES TO PROMOTE THE LEARNING OF LISTENING-SPEAKING SKILLS IN ENGLISH

Abstract

This article presents the concept of language teaching, guidelines for teaching language using communicative approach, and teaching and learning management to promote English listening-speaking skills. The concept of teaching and learning based on the assumptions about language acquisition and language learning for teaching and learning appropriately according to the teaching of language for communication. This article presents only the principles and concepts of teaching and learning to promote English listening-speaking skills. The presented method of teaching language for communication focuses on daily-life communication in various situations which will help students to actually apply language in real context. Teachers should use suitable method and techniques based on learners’ language ability to avoid regression whilst also focusing the needs of the learners. Learner-centered teaching is essential to enable learners to use the language naturally to achieve the goal of teaching and learning to promote listening-speaking skills in English.
