RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INNOVATION AND CIVILIZATION IN AUTOMOTIVE DESIGN

Abstract

Nowadays, technology is rapidly evolving and has a wide impact on the economy, manufacturing sector, service sector and people's quality of life. Including in the matter of vehicles. One of the themes that show the advancement in automotive technology is Electric Vehicle (EV). It is an innovative vehicle that uses complete electric power to drive. In the author's point of view, if considering the aspect of design, see that current electric cars can be divided into 5 types: 1. cars with the original structure but change the propulsion system to EV 2. EV cars with retro design (retro) 3. EV cars designed according to the present (MG) 4. EV cars that Futuristic Design (Tesla) and 5. EVs that are newly produced but retro style that combines electric drive technology and artificial intelligence technology together. In automotive design, the important thing is to combine the old civilization with the new innovation. To create a holistic look in design to create an attractive look through the use of human thoughts and behaviors that want to bring the past into design through the source of inspiration, concepts, artistic visual elements and identity analysis. It can lead to an understanding of the form of art, a nostalgic approach to the past that combines between old civilizations and new innovations to become an electric vehicle innovation that can satisfy drivers in terms of sustainability in all dimensions.
