Abstract
This article discusses suggestions around the use of pictures to teach German as a second language. Its particular focus is on introducing strategies of using pictures for text writing in form of picture description. It elaborates on the functions of the pictures from the communication perspective, importance of pictures in teaching foreign languages and criteria for picture selection for teaching. The article also provides a practice sample and interlinked for the pictures to be used for teaching.
