THE GUIDELINE FOR DEVELOPING THE TEMPLE TO BECOME WELL-BEING LEARNING CENTER OF COMMUNITY

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the context of the temple in the Inspiration Temple Project 2) to study the process of developing the temple area to be a well-being learning center for the community and 3) to propose guidelines for developing the temple area to be a well-being learning center for the community. This research was qualitative. The research area was 3 temples in the Inspiration Temple Project, namely Wat Phra Singh Woramahawiharaya in Chiang Mai, Wat Umong Suan Phutthadham in Chiang Mai, and Wat Boonchum in Phayao.

The results of the research found that:

1. Urban and suburban temples have good building patterns. There is a master plan. There is a clear usage area, especially in the Buddhawat area, but the Sanghawas area and the public service area are disproportionately allocated. The buildings are scattered everywhere within the temple. But the temples in the countryside were not divided into proportional utilization areas causing problems with unprofitable use.
2. The development process has 5 aspects: 1) temple planning, Landscape improvement, construction, and management system 2) the creation of activities between temples and communities 3) a promotion of belongings in temples 4) promotion of community participation 5) Human resource development.
3. The way to develop the temple area is to develop a refreshing environment. There must be monks who act according to the Dhamma and Vinaya, who are knowledgeable, have a respectful approach, have the ability to communicate well, maintain the strengths, original capital, and heritage of the temple, have goals, and understand the context of society. Promoting the community as a base for development Creating activities that connect temples and communities, including continuous development by communities, temples, and network partners.
