Cetanā in Abinnābāna of Phra Dhaniya Kumabhakāraputta

Abstract

The analysis of Cetanā and Adinnādāna of Phra Dhaniyakumabhakāra Putta reveled that Adinnādāna must consist of the criteria of judgment. The intention normally, when a person expresses his intention, the general public can understand that the expressive intention is indeed the true intention within but there are cases where the explicit intentions do not appear or partly match the true intention of the person. Based on the study, Phra Dhaniyakumabhakāra wanted to build a cubicle. As the grasshopper, the firewood man, dismantled and carried his grass and wood three times, later he figured out how to make a cubicle from the soil and set the soil up on the fire to cook it like a clay pot. The Buddha saw that in the future the monks would persecute animals in the soil. Therefore, he blamed and destroyed the terracotta cubicle. Phra Dhaniyakumabhakāra agreed to. As such, he decided to build a wooden cubicle. Therefore went to ask the staff of the royal wood guards. It showed that Phra Dhaniyakumabhakāra had no former intention before committing Adinnādāna at first. He was committed to immortality because of his intention and action to take the objects. Because of being ‘Ādikammikapuggala’ or the first transgressor or doer, he got exemption from being monastically punished or Āpatti.
