The Development of Online Social Media Literacy skill for Secondary Education Students in Bangkok Area

The purposes of this study were to develop online social media literacy skill scaleto validate the online social media literacy skill scaleand to create norm of online social media literacy skill scale. The samples consisted of 628 secondary education students in semester 2, 2019. The samples were collected by using multi-stage random sampling. The scale which comprised of 32 multiple choice situation questions was developed for measuring online social media literacy. Data were analyzed by getting 1 mark for correct answer and 0 mark for wrong answer or no answer.
The findings were as follows: 1) Online social media literacy skill scale was investigated for content validity by considering item objective congruence index (IOC) which ranged from 0.67 to 1.00. 2) The Difficult ranged from 0.23 to 0.73 and item discrimination index ranged from 0.20 to 0.90. 3) The construct validity of online social media literacy skill scale which wasinvestigated by confirmatory factor analysis found that the model fitted the empirical data (Chi-Square = 1146.90, df = 470, RMSEA = 0.048, and SRMR = 0.05). 4) Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient of scale which was calculated by using KR-20 was 0.895. 5) The norm of online social media literacy skill scale for secondary education students was normalized T-score ranged from T13-T97. 6) The manual ofonline social media literacy skill scale for secondary education students in Bangkok area had suitability, fully important composition, easy understanding, and convenience for usability.
