Protection and Maintenance of Religious Treasures of Buddhist Temples

Abstract

This academic article aim was to study the protection and maintenance of religious treasures of Buddhist temples. The result of study found that the temple is a juristic person according to the Sangha Act (No. 2), B.E. 2535. It is authorized of the abbot as a representative of the juristic person of temple, maintaining and managing the property of temple will be the authorized and duty of the abbot of that temple. The maintenance and management of the temple's religious properties that the abbot can do. He must not do against the law and he also has to follow the methods prescribed in the Ministerial Regulation No. 2 (B.E. 2511) issued under the Sangha Act B.E. 2505 and manage the religious treasures of the temple which determines the practice of maintaining religious treasures, treasures of temple as a template for the abbot to adhere too. Taking care of the religious treasures of the temple, according to the announcement of the Ministerial Regulations on the preservation and management of religious treasures of the temple 2564 (2021) by virtue of Section 6, paragraph 1, and Section 40, paragraph 3 of the Sangha Act, B.E. 2505 (1962) the Prime Minister issued a ministerial regulation for the management of the religious properties to be in order according to the Buddhist monastic disciplines for the benefit of the protection and care of religious treasures in Buddhist temples.
