The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the condition of the problem of vices in educational institutions under the Office of Khon Kaen Primary Educational Service Area 5; 2) to propose a management approach to solve vices according to the Four Padhāna in educational institutions under the Office of Khon Kaen Primary Educational Service Area 5. This study was carried out by means of mixed-method research. The sample group consisted of 332 administrators and teachers. The research tools were: a questionnaire and q semi-structured interview. The statistics used in analyzing the obtained data were: Mean, Standard Deviation, and Content Analysis.
The research results were as follows:
1. The overall condition of the problem of vices in educational institutions under the Office of Khon Kaen Primary Educational Service Area 5 was statistically rated at the highest level. The aspect with the highest mean level of problems was management, followed by surveillance and treatment.
2. The management approach to solve vices according to the Four Padhāna in educational institutions under the Office of Khon Kaen Primary Educational Service Area 5 is that in terms of defense, administrators should be careful of all kinds of vices, make warning signs and organize creative activities for students to avoid addiction. On the search side, an effective student screening system should be created to separate each type of student group. On the treatment side, sports and music activities should be organized, as well as various recreational activities so that students can use their free time to benefit, not get involved with drugs. The relevant agencies should be coordinated to help with additional therapy. In terms of surveillance, the unwanted behavior of students regarding vices should be diligently monitored. Regarding management, network groups between schools, communities, and temples should be created to help monitor each other in various activities and set up a policy to be a vice-free zone written or symbolized throughout the school with regularly supervising, monitoring, and evaluating vices in educational institutions.
