Management of Social Welfare for the Elderly in the Area of Ampang Subdistrict Organization, Banphaeo District, Samutsakorn Province

The purposes of the study were to: 1) examine the level of social welfare provision for the elderly by the Ampang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ban Phaeo District, Samut Sakhon Province, and 2) compare the provision of social welfare for the elderly by the Ampang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, categorized by individual demographic factors. The research employed a quantitative approach. The population consisted of elderly individuals aged 60 and above residing in the jurisdiction of the Ampang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, totaling 1,365 people. A sample of 310 individuals was selected using Taro Yamane's formula. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using a statistical software package. The analysis included percentage (%), mean (x̅), standard deviation (S.D.), hypothesis testing with an independent sample t-test, and comparisons of groups larger than two using one-way ANOVA.
The findings revealed that:
1. Overall, the provision of social welfare for the elderly by the Ampang Subdistrict Administrative Organization was at a moderate level ( = 2.98, S.D. = 0.09). When considering specific dimensions, the highest-rated dimension was health and recreation (
= 3.24, S.D. = 0.12), followed by housing (
= 3.00, S.D. = 0.05), and safety in life and property (
= 2.88, S.D. = 0.24). The lowest-rated dimension was education (
= 2.81, S.D. = 0.23).
2. Compares the provision of social welfare for the elderly by the Ampang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ban Phaeo District, SamutSakhon Province, considering individual factors such as gender, age, educational level, pre-retirement occupation, and marital status. The findings indicate that opinions on the social welfare services provided by the Ampang Subdistrict Administrative Organization-including aspects of health and recreation, education, housing, and personal and property safety-do not differ significantly across these demographic variables.
