Abstract

The objectives of this study were: 1) to examine the principles of establishing learning networks in relation to local history, arts, and culture; 2) to develop learning networks between temples and communities in the public areas surrounding Bueng Kaen Nakhon, Khon Kaen Province; and 3) to evaluate the effectiveness of establishing such learning networks. This research employed a participatory action research (PAR) design. The in-depth informants consisted of 18 monks and lay participants selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included an interview schedule and an evaluation form designed to assess the establishment of temple–community learning networks in the public areas around Bueng Kaen Nakhon. The population consisted of 100 participants. Data were analyzed using quantitative methods and descriptive analysis.

          Research Findings

  1. Needs Assessment: The study revealed the actual and desirable conditions for establishing temple–community learning networks in the public areas surrounding Bueng Kaen Nakhon. The overall PNI modified was 1.06. When analyzed by dimension, the development of network administration between temples and communities showed the highest need, with a PNI modified value of 1.18.
  2. Process of Network Development: The establishment of learning networks between temples and communities comprised four stages: 1) Planning: Designing activities for developing learning networks to identify appropriate operational guidelines. 2) Implementation: Executing the planned activities systematically to achieve the stated objectives. 3) Evaluation: Assessing the outcomes using tools aligned with the activity model to determine strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. 4) Dissemination: Presenting the outcomes of the network in tangible forms through information systems and knowledge-sharing platforms.
  3. Satisfaction Evaluation: The overall satisfaction with the development of temple–community learning networks in the public areas around Bueng Kaen Nakhon was rated at the highest level (Mean = 4.57, S.D. = 0.21).
