Strong Community Management According to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy A Case Study: Sufficiency Economy Learning Center, Lai Ngao Subdistrict, Wiang Kaen District, Chiang Rai Province

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) study the knowledge and understanding of people in applying the sufficiency economy philosophy to strong community, 2) study the way of life of people according to the sufficiency economy philosophy, and 3) study the strong community management according to  the sufficiency economy philosophy a case study: Sufficiency Economy Learning Center, Lai Ngao Subdistrict, Wiang Kaen District, Chiang Rai Province. This research was qualitative. The key informants were: (1) community leaders groups, (2) administrators and officials of Lai Ngao Subdistrict Municipality, (3) community occupational group leaders, (4) local sages, (5) monks, and (6) villagers, totaling 20 people, selected using a purposive selection. The tools used to collect data were: in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The statistics used to analyze the data were content analysis and descriptive synthesis.
The results of the study found that:
1.People had knowledge and understanding of the sufficiency economy philosophy at a level where they could actually apply it, interpreting and adapting it to suit the context of their households and communities through the principles of moderation, rationality, and resilience by community learning centers and learning processes served as key mechanisms in promoting understanding.
2.People concretely lived according to the sufficiency economy philosophy, both in terms of appropriate resource utilization, decision-making based on information and reason, and building economic and social resilience at the household and community levels.
3.Strong community management was an integrated operation based on the sufficiency economy philosophy with key components including participation, self-reliance, learning processes, leadership, and collaborative networks, resulting in strong communities that could develop continuously and sustainably.
