A Study of Development Guidelines of Agile Leadership of School Administrators Under the Secondary Educational Service Area Mukdahan

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) examine the current and desirable conditions of agile leadership among school administrators, 2) investigate the priority needs for agile leadership, and 3) develop guidelines for enhancing agile leadership of school administrators under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Mukdahan. A mixed-methods approach was employed, consisting of two phases. In Phase 1, the sample comprised 285 participants, including school administrators and teachers, selected through disproportionate stratified random sampling. The research instrument was a five-point Likert scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the Modified Priority Needs Index (PNI Modified). In Phase 2, five key informants were selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included a semi-structured interview and an evaluation form for assessing the appropriateness and feasibility of the proposed guidelines. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis.
The findings revealed that:
1. The overall current condition of agile leadership among school administrators was at a moderate level (x̄ = 2.84, S.D. = 0.64), while the desirable condition was at the highest level (x̄ = 4.59, S.D. = 0.47).
2. The priority needs for agile leadership were identified in three key areas: self-empowerment and self-leadership development, data-informed and adaptive decision-making, and innovation and experimentation.
3. The guidelines for developing agile leadership consisted of three dimensions with a total of 31 approaches: 13 approaches for self-empowerment and self-leadership development, 9 approaches for data-informed and adaptive decision-making, and 9 approaches for innovation and experimentation. The overall evaluation of the guidelines indicated the highest level of appropriateness and feasibility.
