Abstract

The aims of this research were: to study the state, problems and ways to improve the learning management by using Problem Based Learning (PBL) of the high school students of Ummaoprachasan School in Nakhon Phanom province. This study employed the mixed research methodologies by means of quantitative and qualitative research. The population of this study were 265 high school students and 155 of those were selected as the samples by Krejcie & Morgan method. The statistics used in data analysis were: Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation. In content analysis, the targets included 10 of a school director, vice directors, high school teachers and teachers in the department of Social Studies, Religion and Culture.
The research results were as follows:
1. The statistical value of the sample satisfaction with the learning management by using PBL of the high school students of Ummaoprachasan School in Nakhon Phanom province was at a high level.
2. The statistical value of the problems of the sample satisfaction with the learning management by using PBL of the high school students of Ummaoprachasan School in Nakhon Phanom province was at a high level.
3. The statistical value of the development of the learning management by using PBL of the high school students of Ummaoprachasan School in Nakhon Phanom province was at a high level.
4. The ways to develop the mentioned learning management were that 1) the school should arrange the learning for the students to practice their thought, analysis and evaluation on various problems; 2) the learning by raising the problems and allowing the students to express their opinions and suggestions for solving problems should be organized; 3) the learning management allowing the students to understand the problems in social studies should be created; 4) the curiosity of students in seeking knowledge in media should be used in making a learning and teaching plan to increase the benefits from this behavior; 5) the group learning should be arranged to create harmony, teamwork and knowledge exchange among the students; 6) additional learning consistent with the interest in searching extra information should be made to develop the learning in social studies.
