The Representative Image of His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej the Great from Condolences Songs on His Passing Away

Abstract

This research aims at studying language usage techniques and the representative image of His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej the Great. Data are collected from 50 condolences songs. The results shows that songs are composed by using various harmonious techniques. Major techniques are Themes, Figures of Speeches and Symbols. These create 4 types of representative images which are Beloved King, Hard Working King, Father of the Land, and the Great one from heaven.  These representative images imply cultural significances that King Rama the Ninth is the ‘prototype’ and will be still in Thai people’s hearts and remembrance forever.
