E-Service Learning for Promoting Digital Active Learning of Mainstreaming Students, Library and Information Science Program

The purposes of this research were to (1) manage e-learning instruction to promote digital active learning and (2) study the digital active learning of the students of Library and Information Science. The samples included 19 students, who majored in Library and Information Science Programme, and enrolled on Knowledge Management and Local Wisdom Course, i.e., 13 normal students, 4 hearing-impaired students, and 2 students with learning abilities. The research instruments consisted of (1) learning management plans by e-service learning to promote digital active learning, (2) digital technology for e-service learning approach and (3) the questionnaires of proactive digital learning. The results of the research revealed that (1) Learning through e-service learning to promoting digital active learning consisted of 6 steps: 1) grouping and planning the project, 2) searching for knowledge and analyzing problems, 3) implementing the project through community participation, 4) connecting knowledge by continuing the project, 5) present project results and disseminate knowledge, and 6) summarize learning outcomes, as reflecting and sharing knowledge. (2) The students practice the following as to promote digital active learning regularly ranging from the highest frequency to the lowest ones; 1) knowledge inquiry, 2) teamwork, 3) knowledge transfer and knowledge connecting, 4) dissemination of knowledge, 5) knowledge sharing and communication, and 6) reflecting knowledge.
