Content Creating Techniques of Dialogue Wording in Choi Songs

Abstract

This research article aimed to analyze the content creation of verbal bullying in Choi song by retrieving data from three stories of the old-fashioned Choi of Yai Tuan group, the northern Choi of Po Gomin Mae Thongbai group and the southern Choi of Mae Kwaunjit Sriprachan group. Each characteristics of those three groups are different in cadence that is the old-fashioned Choi is short and concise, the northern and southern Choi share the similar length but different in cadence. The common element shared by those three groups of data is the content creation of verbal bullying for retort. There are five characteristics of verbal bullying content i.e., 1) sarcasm 2) satire 3) rebuke 4) insult and 5) self-despising. The content creation technique aims to hurt, embarrass, displease the opposite side and arouse a sense of humor of the audience. Besides, those characteristics also show the improvisational skills of lead singers who have individually different stylistic to defeat the verbal battle by putting gender dignity at stake.
