The Development of Products from Tie-Dye, Case Study: Wat Yai Sri Suphan Community, Hirunruji Sub-district, Thonburi District, Bangkok

Abstract

This research aims to explore the present condition, wisdom and the needs of product development for tie-dye fabrics of Wat Yai Sri Suphan community and to develop tie-dye products to meet the needs of consumers living in condominiums. The population and the sample group were residents of condominiums in Thonburi area, Bangkok. The sample group were 400 female and male aged 30-45 years in total. This research is a mixed- method research. The tools used in this research were questionnaires. There are 5 products that have been through the design process of using products from tie-dyed fabrics, namely: 1. cushions, 2. neck pillows 3. table lamps, 4. multipurpose boxes and 5. wallets. The overall product satisfaction was at a high level with mean () = 3.99, 4.07, 4.12, 4.03 and 3.99, respectively. The findings contribute to value adding for community products in terms of attraction and identity and strengthening the economy of the community based on resource exploitation. The wisdom is also extended and incomes are sustainably promoted. Finally, local well-being is improved while applying the knowledge to other products.
