Audio description : Accessibility services for the visually impaired

Abstract

Audio Descriptions: Accessibility Services for the Visually Impaired is an academic article aimed at researching documents, textbooks, academic resources, research publications, and interviews with people involved in the production of Audio Descriptions (AD) to study the background, current situations, problems, and obstacles in the production as well as to find guidelines for producing audio-described video media to serve the Announcement of National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) on the promotion and protection of the rights of persons with disabilities to access or recognize and benefit from  television programmes (No.3) so that all parties involved receive the most benefits.

The study found that the main reasons that many TV stations are not able to conform to the announcement because of the incompetence of the production process, budget, knowledge, and expertise of the personnel of the television station. The NBTC has provided a guideline for solving problems to promote and support people with disabilities to acknowledge and benefit from information as equally as the general public and are able to apply that information to benefit their living.
