Development of a Summary Writing Instructional Package Using CIRC Cooperative Learning Technique for Mathayom Suksa 3 Students

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) develop an instructional package for summary writing using CIRC cooperative learning technique for Mathayom Suksa 3 Students to meet the standard efficiency criterion of 75/75; 2) determine the effectiveness index of summary writing using the instructional package with the CIRC cooperative learning technique students; and 3) examine Mathayom Suksa 3 students' satisfaction with the summary writing instructional package using CIRC cooperative learning technique. The research instruments consisted of four sets of summary writing instructional packages incorporating CIRC cooperative learning technique, a summary writing ability test, and a student satisfaction questionnaire. The statistical analyses employed included percentage, mean, standard deviation, efficiency (E₁/E₂), and effectiveness index (E.I.).

          The findings revealed that: 1) the summary writing instructional package using CIRC cooperative learning technique achieved an efficiency of 79.5/80.66, exceeding the established criterion of 75/75; 2) the effectiveness index of summary writing using the instructional package with CIRC cooperative learning technique was 0.6040 or 60.40%; and 3) students reported the highest level of satisfaction toward the summary writing instructional package using CIRC cooperative learning technique (X= 4.83, S.D. = 0.21).
