Abstract

The United Nations Global Compact plays an important role in popularizing the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) worldwide. CSR communication is essential for CSR implementation; however, CSR communication practices differ across nations. This study aims to examine CSR communication strategies and objectives in Thailand. The research used interviews with 7 CSR executives of companies listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand and listed in the Sustainable Stock and 4 CSR scholars. The data were analyzed using content analysis. The research results found that CSR communication strategies and objectives were consistent with the research hypothesis but had different importance levels. The stakeholder information strategy is the most commonly used strategy in Thailand, while the stakeholder involvement strategy is used with local communities surrounding the corporates. For CSR communication objectives, the research results found that the most important objectives are to enhance corporate image and to demonstrate legitimacy and accountability. The research results allow corporates to use this as a guideline for determining the CSR communication strategies and objectives.
