This research and development study aimed to develop a hands-on learning management model and investigate its effects on the professional competencies of caregiving students at Chularat Inter Health School. The research was conducted in three phases: Phase 1) Situational analysis of problems and needs; Phase 2) Design and development of the model; and Phase 3: Implementation and evaluation of the model. The sample consisted of 40 caregiving students from the 2025 academic year, selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included an experiential learning management manual, knowledge tests, practical skill assessment forms, and professional attitude scales. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and a dependent samples t-test.
The research findings revealed that: 1) The developed learning management model, titled "The Hands-on Learning Process Model for Enhancing Professional Competencies of Caregiving Students at Chularat Inter Health School," was evaluated at the highest level of quality and appropriateness by experts. Integrating the quality cycle with experiential learning theory, the model comprises 7 core components: principles, objectives, learners and instructors, learning processes, media and learning resources, environment, and measurement and evaluation. It operates through a four-step learning process: (a) theory-to-practice integration, (b) simulation-based training, (c) on-the-job practice, and (d) self-reflective evaluation. 2) Following the implementation of the learning management model, the sample’s professional competencies were statistically significantly higher than before the intervention at the .05 level across all areas: knowledge, practical skills (assessed through an Objective Structured Clinical Examination: OSCE), and professional attitude. 3) The model was recognized as a best practice for elevating learners' competencies, ensuring their readiness for real-world practice in accordance with professional standards.
