The Rongngeng Vocal Music Analysis of Jiw Pramongkit

Abstract

This is a Qualitative research in ethnomusicology which aim to 1) Collect and transcribe the record the Rongngeng vocal music of Jiw Pramongkit into western music notation. 2) Analyze the vocal music in ethnomusicological methods. The research results are 1) The vocal music both in U-Raklavoi and Thai lyrics, are transcribed into western music notation totally 41 songs which are divided into 35 original songs and 6 contemporary songs. 2) The songs mostly are strophic forms in pentatonic tonesets with undulating in melody contour. The melodic rhythms are regular, syncopation and irregular in triple notes with the syllable in text setting.
