Abstract

The research has found that Cherokee in album “What You Dealin’ With” (2001) and “We” (2002) presented a rapid tempo which requires high technique and skills for the player. In particular albums, Gordon has utilized sound controlling techniques such as double tonguing, triple tonguing, tenuto tonguing, doo-dle or da-dle tonguing, lip break and glissando into his music. As for distinctive sound controlling, techniques such as flutter tongue, growl, throat hum, multiphonics, hard double tonguing are applied. With all these mentioned elements, Gordon has employed each technique by considering rhythm, form and procedure of the band appropriately.
