Abstract

            This research article is written to provide a guide on the analysis of performance practice and interpretation of Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata in C Major, Op.53 "Waldstein". Main objectives are 1) analyze and develop a good interpretation 2) improve piano playing skills and 3) learn how to deal with overall problems including time management and preparation for a solo performance. This article will help students and the general public to be interested in classical music and to have a better understanding of Beethoven's creativity through his piano sonata. This sonata, demanding and challenging, has been considered as one of the most well-known piano pieces. The sonata also plays an important role to help pianists develop their skills to a professional level. The researcher had faced and overcame the problems found in the piece during practicing such as hand cross, glissando, and trill.
