The Member States’ Use of Force for Self Defense under Charter of the United Nations
Keywords:
Use of Force, Self Defense, United Nation, Article 51Abstract
Since the ancient time the use of military force is considered the last practice to resolve differences between any two states. After the WWII, the world has learned its lesson. Military force exercise in international affairs stated as unlawful. However, any law has its exception. Under the UN Charter article 51 States Parties are entitled to the use of forces for self-defense. This results in the question of when the right for self-defense will be enforced, how far a state will be able to perform it as well as when it will last.
