The Praxis of Thai Teacherness De / Re - construction in Pre - Service Teacher Education Curricula
Main Article Content
Abstract
This qualitative self - study research studied the praxis of Thai teacherness de / re - construction in pre - service teacher education curricula by defining Thai teacherness as social construction that becomes hegemonic knowledge. Self - reflection and dialectic technique were emphasized by positional conceptualization of a teacher as researcher conceptual frame work. Results may be theoretically divided into three interrelated dimensions: 1) Thai teacherness existed as national - popular collective will; 2) pedagogical approaches to actively change entrenched ideas and thoughts were embedded in didactic education and pre - service teachers; and 3) the praxis of critical pedagogy through de / re - construction of Thai teacherness demonstrated dual relationships of essential theoretical and praxic aspects needed for social transformation. By doing so, critical pedagogy emphasizes the agentic role of teacher educators by building individual narratives. This is a foundational grounding for transformative movements in sociocultural, economic, political, and historical change.
