บทความนี้ชี้ให้เห็นความสำคัญของการจัดเก็บรักษาเว็บถาวร (Web archiving) ในฐานะที่เป็นแนวคิดใหม่สำหรับการพัฒนาแหล่งสารสนเทศใหม่ในยุคดิจิทัล การจัดเก็บรักษาเว็บถาวรเป็นแนวทางหนึ่งที่ช่วยให้มั่นใจว่าในระยะยาวผู้ใช้สามารถเข้าถึงและใช้ข้อมูลบนเว็บที่เปลี่ยนอยู่ตลอดเวลาได้ เนื้อหาที่นำเสนอครอบคลุมความหมาย โครงการริเริ่มการจัดเก็บรักษาเว็บถาวรที่เกิดขึ้นในหอสมุดแห่งชาติ และสถาบันสารสนเทศต่าง ๆ ทั่วโลก ประเภทและกระบวนการจัดเก็บรักษาเว็บถาวร รวมถึงเครื่องมือสำคัญและมาตรฐานที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการจัดเก็บรักษาเว็บถาวร
