A Development of the Mathematics Learning Package on Geometric Transformation Based on Inquiry Approach by Using GSP with Emphasis on Spatial Sense for Mattayom Suksa Two Students

Abstract

The research aimed to 1) develop the mathematics learning package on geometric transformation based on inquiry approach by using GSP with emphasis on spatial sense  for Mattayom Suksa two (Grade 8) students to have an efficiency of a 80/80 criterion,  2) to compare a learning achievement of the students who were taught by the mathematics learning package and the students who were taught by a conventional teaching method, 3) to compare an attitude towards mathematics who were taught by the package in question and those who were taught by a traditional method.  The samples were 96 Mattayom Suka two (grade 8) students of Mattayomtrakanphuetphon School in the first semester of the academic year 2013. The research instruments were 1) the lesson plans, 2) the mathematics learning package 3) the achievement test and, 4) the questionnaire used to examine the students’ attitude towards mathematics. Statistics used in data analysis were mean, standard deviation, two way ANOVA and t-test.

The research findings were as follows.

1. The mathematics learning package had an efficiency of 84.91/82.92, which was higher than a set criterion of 80/80.
2. The mathematics learning achievement who were taught by the package in question was higher than that of the students taught by a traditional method with a statistical significance of 0.01.
3. The attitude of Mattayomsuksa two students who were taught by the package in question towards mathematics was higher than that of the students who were taught by a traditional teaching method with a statistical significance of 0.01.
