The Life Quality of Elderly in Nongyat Subdistrict Municipality, Amphoe Muang, Nakhon Phanom Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the life quality of senior citizens in Nongyat Subdistrict Municipality, Muang District, Nakhon Phanom Province, and 2) to compare the life quality of senior citizens in Nongyat Subdistrict Municipality, Muang District, Nakhon Phanom Province classified by sex, age, career, income and the level of education. Population used in research consited of 833 senior citizens in Nongyat Subdistrict Municipality, Muang District, Nakhon Phanom Province by using the tables of Krejcie and Morgan, the sample size consisted of 265 people. The research instrument was a questionnaire and data analysis using computer programs by the reliability was at 0.77. The statistics used in the data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation and frequency and the hypothesis testing was t-test, F-test (One-Way ANOVA) by testing the difference of statistical significance obtained at 0.05 level by Scheffe's method.

The research results were as follows: 1. The life quality of senior citizens in Nongyat Subdistrict Municipality, Muang District, Nakhon Phanom Province in overall aspect was at the high level. When considering in individual aspect found four aspects of the life quality of senior citizens in Nongyat Subdistrict Municipality, Muang District, Nakhon Phanom Province was at the high level. The mean scores ordering from the highest to the lowest were the aspect of health (= 4.36), the aspect of safety in life (= 4.28), the aspect of recreation (= 4.25), the aspect of education    (= 4.16) and the lowest aspect was the residence (= 2.26). 2. The comparison of the life quality of senior citizens in Nongyat Subdistrict

Municipality, Muang District, Nakhon Phanom Province found that senior citizens in Nongyat Subdistrict Municipality, Muang District, Nakhon Phanom Province had the different sex, age and educational level. The life quality in overall and individual aspects was not different, but senior citizens who had the different career and income, the life quality in overall and individual aspects was statistically significant difference at the 0.05 level.
