THE PUBLIC’S CONFIDENCE IN THE PERFORMANCE OF POLICE OFFICERS IN PROVINCIAL POLICE STATION AFFILIATED WITH DEPARMENT OF SAKON NAKHON

Abstract

The purposes of this research were: (1) to study the level of the public’s confidence in the performance of police officers in provincial police stations affiliated with Department of Sakon Nakhon Provincial Police, (2) to compare the public’s confidence in the performance of police officers in provincial police stations affiliated with Department of Sakon Nakhon Provincial Police, (3) to investigate factors affecting to the public’s confidence in the performance of police officers in provincial police stations affiliated with Department of Sakon Nakhon Provincial Police, (4) to study the guideline and suggestion of the public’s confidence in the performance of police officers in provincial police stations affiliated with Department of Sakon Nakhon Provincial Police. The research results were as follows: 1) The levels of the public’s confidence in the performance of police officers in provincial police stations affiliated with Department of Sakon Nakhon Provincial Police, in the overall and individual aspects were at the high level. 2) The comparing results of the public’s confidence in the performance of police officers in provincial police stations affiliated with Department of Sakon Nakhon Provincial Police classified by sex, age, status, religion, education level, occupation, income per month, residence style in overall and individual aspects were statistically significant difference at the .05 level.3) Factors affecting the public’s confidence in the performance of police officers in provincial police stations affiliated with Department of Sakon Nakhon Provincial Police classified by personal factors were significantly correlated at .01 and .05, for examples; sex, age, income per month and residence style. 4) The result of the interview showed that the public’s confidence in the performance of police officers in provincial police stations affiliated with Department of Sakon Nakhon Provincial Police suggested practical guidelines focusing on public service as the slogan "giving services as relatives and protecting people as a family.”
