A Corpus-Based Study of Applied Arts English Vocabulary

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1. compile an applied arts corpus-based learning list which arranged by authentic order 2. classify sub-lists and 3. create a program on the applied arts corpus-based learning list and sub-lists. The research tool was WordSmith Tools Program Version 7 (Scott, 2012). The population of this research was English applied arts texts book published after 2010 and the samples were visual communication designs, product designs, interior designs and arts of photography text books suggested by qualified applied arts instructors.

            The research results revealed that there are 617,150 in the applied arts corpus-based. After the analysis and investigation, there were 179 words in the applied arts learning list, 88 words in the visual communication designs learning list, 56 words in the product designs learning list, 51 words in the interior designs learning list and 39 words in the arts of photography learning list. The applied learning program with all learning lists which is available on-line at http://www.pohchang.rmutr.ac.th was created. The applied arts corpus-based learning list is beneficial for learners to enhance their vocabulary potential.
