Abstract

The objectives of this articles were to study about Wetland Convention, Thailand’s policies and legal measures regard on wetland conservation including analysis of legal problems, obstacles, and limitation on wetland conservation of Thailand in accordance with the Convention on Wetlands.

The Convention on Wetlands has set out several obligations. Thailand, as a member of the convention, has established policies and measures on wetland conservation. But it is not yet effective enough to conserve wetlands. They also look inconsistent with the Wise Use concept which is the primary approach the Wetland Convention uses for wetland conservation efforts. The author has recommendations such as 1) propose to define a definition of “Wetlands” and “Wise Use” are governed by Thai law, 2) Propose to promote community participation at all levels in wetland conservation, and 3), Propose to additional incentives and tax incentives to promote wetland conservation, etc.
