ACADEMIC ARTICLE ON MIXED FARMING OF FARMERS IN NON DAENG SUBDISTRICT, BAN KHAO DISTRICT, CHAIYAPHUM PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aimed to study the factors affecting integrated farming and to determine guidelines for promoting integrated farming among farmers in Non Daeng Subdistrict, Ban Khao District, Chaiyaphum Province. The research conducted in-depth interviews with 20 integrated farmers, using a specific sampling method from 150 farmers in the Khok Nong Na Model and the Large-Scale Rice Field Project.
The results of the research found that most farmers had an average age of 41-50 years and had a compulsory education level from primary to high school. Physical factors, i.e., the amount of land held and capital are sufficient to affect the decision to do mixed farming. Production factors, if having knowledge of production and owning land, will affect the decision to do mixed farming and marketing factors were considered the sample group gave importance to the source of product distribution and the product price that was worth for investment. As for the guidelines for promoting farmers to engage in mixed farming, there should be training on knowledge of production planning, finding distribution sources for farmers, and processing products through the Learning Institute For Everyone (LIFE) District Agriculture, and Sub-district Learning Promotion Centers for helping to prevent a market glut that could lead to low product prices.
