Teaching and Learning through Self-Directed Learning

Abstract

Nowadays, information technology has played an important role to the national development in all respects of areas, including business, health,military and security, telecommunications and communications, as well as education the information technology has served as main tool and supporting tool to which the learners can use it as instructional tool to further their education anytime and anywhere. In this paper, the teaching and learning model through the self-directed learning process was presented, including the importance of self-directed learning and the nature of self-directed learning. In this way, the learners are required to be highly responsible for self-directing, self-control, and self-learning while the teacher serves as a facilitator in providing useful resources and sources of information. In addition, it requires an interaction between leaners and instructor, and between learners and learners.
