บทคัดย่อ
บทความนี้ศึกษาตัวอย่างการปฏิเสธทางอ้อมในฐานะวัจนกรรมปฏิบัติ ในเรื่องสั้น The Surgeon
ของ โรอัลด์ ดาห์ล โดยศึกษาการใช้การปฏิเสธทางอ้อมและความสัมพันธ์กับกลยุทธ์ความสุภาพ รวมถึงตัวแปร
ทางสังคม ได้แก่ ระยะห่างทางสังคมของคู่สนทนา ความสัมพันธ์เชิงอำนาจ และการลดอัตราล่วงละเมิด ซึ่งอธิบายโดย Brown และ Levinson (1987) ผ่านการวิเคราะห์การตอบปฏิเสธต่อข้อเสนอและคำแนะนำในเรื่องสั้นดังกล่าว โดยนำผลการศึกษามาอธิบายด้วยการใช้กลยุทธ์ความสุภาพที่เสนอโดย Liang และ Min (2013)
