Aims and Scope
Vision and Objectives
VRU Research and Development Journal Science and Technology is operated by the Research and Development Institute of Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University under the Royal Patronage. The journal aims to serve as a premier platform for disseminating high-quality research in science and technology while fostering knowledge exchange and research collaboration among researchers and educational institutions both domestically and internationally.
History and Current Status
The journal began publication in 2005 (B.E. 2548). It is currently officially known as the VRU Research and Development Journal Science and Technology, with ISSN: 3027-7353 (Online). The journal has achieved recognition by being indexed in the Thai Journal Citation Index Centre (TCI) database, Group 1, which demonstrates its acknowledged academic quality and standards.
Publication Frequency and Distribution
The journal follows an online publication schedule of three issues per year, divided into the following periods: Issue 1 (January-April), Issue 2 (May-August), and Issue 3 (September-December). Distribution reaches educational institutions nationwide, relevant agencies, and the public with interests in science and technology fields.
VRU R&D J. Sci&Tech. consists of two major sections in VRU R&D J. Sci&Tech.field:
Science: This section encompasses a broad range of disciplines in science, emphasizing the advancement of knowledge and its applications to address global and societal challenges. The scope includes, but is not limited to:
- Food Science and Technology: Food chemistry and biochemistry, food processing and engineering, food safety and quality control, nutrition and functional foods, food packaging and preservation.
- Medical and Health Sciences: Biomedical sciences, clinical research, public health, medical technology, health informatics, pharmaceutical sciences.
- Natural Sciences: Physics and applied physics, chemistry and applied chemistry, biology and life sciences, earth and environmental sciences, mathematics and statistics.
- Agricultural Sciences: Crop science and plant biology, animal science and veterinary medicine, soil science and agricultural chemistry, agricultural engineering, sustainable agriculture.
- Environmental Sciences: Environmental chemistry and biology, pollution control and monitoring, climate change and sustainability, environmental engineering, waste management.
Focus: To disseminate new insights, discoveries, and solutions that enhance scientific understanding, improve human health, support sustainable agriculture, and contribute to environmental protection.
Technology: This section emphasizes the integration of applied sciences, engineering, and innovation to solve technical and industrial problems. The scope covers a wide range of disciplines, including:
- Applied Sciences: Materials science and engineering, nanotechnology, biotechnology, renewable energy technologies, industrial chemistry.
- Data and Digital Technologies: Data science and analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, internet of things (IoT).
- Engineering Sciences: Civil and structural engineering, mechanical and manufacturing engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, computer science and software engineering.
Focus: To promote technological advancement, foster innovation, and support the development of smart systems and transformative solutions that benefit industries and society.
Publication Fees and Open Access Policy
VRU R&D J. Sci&Tech is an open access journal. All published articles are freely accessible in PDF format on the journal’s website without any registration requirements. The journal’s open access policy is aligned with international standards and supports wide dissemination of knowledge.
Licensing and Copyright
All articles in VRU Research and Development Journal Science and Technology are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, reproduction, and adaptation of the work in any medium, provided that proper attribution is given to the original authors and source. This ensures that published content can be freely reused for research, teaching, and commercial purposes without barriers.
Authors retain the copyright of their work but grant the journal the right of first publication under the CC BY 4.0 license. If required by institutions or funding agencies, authors may also publish under equivalent or more permissive licenses (e.g., CC0 or Open Government License).
Permitted uses under CC BY 4.0 include, but are not limited to:
- Self-archiving of submitted, accepted, or published versions in institutional repositories or personal webpages.
- Reuse, redistribution, or modification of content for academic and non-academic purposes, provided that proper credit is given.
Content Not Owned by Authors
If a manuscript contains third-party materials (e.g., images, figures, tables, videos, software, or proprietary data) that are not created or owned by the authors, one of the following must be demonstrated:
- The material is in the public domain or available under an open access license compatible with CC BY 4.0, or
- Written permission has been obtained from the copyright holder to publish the material under CC BY 4.0.
- If proper permissions cannot be provided, authors will be required to remove or replace the content before publication.
Removal of Copyrighted Materials
The Editorial Team reserves the right to remove or retract any material before or after publication if there are concerns about copyright, licensing, or permissions, and authors cannot provide sufficient documentation to confirm compliance with the CC BY 4.0 license.
The journal welcomes submissions from faculty members and researchers from universities, research centers, organizations, companies, and industries worldwide. We hope this will enhance the scientific standards of the journal and serve as a communication channel between Thai academics and international scholars, as well as colleagues from other parts of the world.
