Analysis of Thai Language Textbooks for Grade 7 between 2010 – 2021

Abstract
The objective of this research was to analyze Thai language textbooks for Grade 7 between 2010 - 2021. The sources of data used in the study were six Grade 7 Thai language textbooks: “Wiwithphasa” and “Wannakhadi Wijak” by the Publishing House of the Teachers’ Council of Thailand (Suksapattana Organization); “Lak Phasa Lae Kan Chai Phasa” and “Wannakhadi Lae Wannakam” by Aksorn Charoentat Publishing House; and “Lak Phasa Lae Kan Chai Phasa Thai” and “Wannakhadi Lae Wannakam” by the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST). These were selected from the three publishers with the highest print frequency, consisting of one Thai language textbook and one Thai literature textbook from each publisher, a total of six books. The analysis of Thai language textbooks was divided into two aspects: content and physical appearance.
The results showed that the Thai language textbooks for Grade 7 between 2010 - 2021 had two aspects as follows: 1) The content was complete, accurate, and appropriate. There were a variety of activities and exercises to choose from, and the language used was correct according to the principles of Thai usage. The “Lak Phasa Lae Kan Chai Phasa Thai” textbook of the Publishing House of the Teachers’ Council of Thailand contained both core ideas (linguistic content) and supplementary ideas (content details). Aksorn Charoentat Publishing House and IPST textbooks contained all core ideas. All three publishers’ Thai literature textbooks used the same literary works and order of literary topics, differing only in the language style of literary analysis, 2) For the physical appearance, the Publishing House of the Teachers’ Council of Thailand used bright four-color printing with illustrations on almost every page, while Aksorn Charoentat Publishing House and IPST used 2 - 4 color printing with fewer illustrations. However, the Thai literature textbooks of all three publishers contained a large number of illustrations.
