Abstract

This study aims to analyze the language used in the naming of Thai YouTube channels focusing on finance and investment, as well as to examine their naming characteristics. This research is a qualitative study that collected data from 300 Thai YouTube channel names between August 1st - August 31st 2025. The findings reveal that the language used in naming can be categorized into two types: Monolingual naming, using either Thai or English, and Bilingual naming, where part of the name is in Thai and another part in English. Regarding punctuation usage, five types were found: hyphens, colons, parentheses, period, and repetition marks (Maiyamok , “ๆ”). The semantic analysis of Thai YouTube channel names identified two major semantic domains: 1) the financial and investment domain, which includes assets, resources, methods or processes, tools, goals, roles, and metaphorical expressions (2) the general domain, which includes personal or organizational names, occupations and social status, kinship, animals, places, distinctive content features, and miscellaneous. Furthermore, three distinct naming patterns were observed: naming based on the general domain, naming based on the finance and investment domain, and naming that combines both the finance and investment and general domains.
