FACTORS AFFECTING THE DECISION IN BCOMING THE POLICE : A CASE STUDY OF THE PROVINCIAL POLICE TRAINING SCHOOL 7 , NAKHONPATHOM PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this thematic paper were 1) to study the factors affecting becoming the police of the police sergeant students  2) to compare the factors affecting becoming police classified to age, education, parents’ occupation  and  family income and 3) to study suggestions concerning with the problems and solutions of the factors affecting the decision in becoming police. The research instruments were questionnaires given to the police students. It used stratified random samplings and got 123 simple random samplings by making lots. Descriptive statistics were frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Inferential statistics used t-test and One-Way ANOVA test. In case, the differentiation was found, it was tested  in a pair by mean scheffe and analyzed by computing.

     The results of research were found as follows :

1. The police sergeant students had opinions on four aspects; 1) social value and social acceptance 2) progress of occupation 3) welfare and recompense 4) ethics and morals, all of these were on agreeable. When considered each aspect that factors that factors affecting decision of becoming police were on agreeable level too.


2. The results of hypothesis test were found that the police sergeant students with different age, education, parents’ occupation and family income had no difference on factors affecting in becoming police. When classified each aspect found that the police sergeant students whose different family income had different factors affecting the ethics and morals aspect at the significant level.05.

The police sergeant students of the Provincial Police Training School 7 had suggested some problems and solutions; 1) Providing programs of religious activities or having meditation course for students. 2) Growing good sense of moral system, no corruption, being honesty. 3) Promoting police students to think good, and speak good to all peoples. 4) Providing them chances of training course for their promotion.
