ROLES OF ECCLESIASTIC MONKS IN PROMMOTING MORALITY AND ETHICS IN THE SANGHA ADMINISTRATIVE COMMUNITY, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PROVINCE

Abstract
The thesis aimed to study 1) roles of the ecclesiastic monks in promoting morality and ethics in the Sangha administrative community, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, 2) problems, obstacles, and solutions of the ecclesiastic monks in promoting morality and ethics in the sangha administrative community, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, and 3) guidelines to promote morality and ethics in the community of ecclesiastic monks in The Sangha administrative community, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. This mixed research was composed of quantitative and qualitative research. For the quantitative research, the sample group was 310 people, including community leaders as village and sub-district headmen in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The researchers determined the sample based on Krejcie and Morgan's prefabricated table. Data were analyzed using the application program, and the statistics applied for this research were percentage, mean, and standard deviation. For the qualitative research, the data were collected through in-depth interviews with five key informants and analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques.
The results showed that;
1. Roles of the ecclesiastic monks in promoting morality and ethics in the community, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, in all seven aspects were at a high level.
2. The results in compiling the recommendations showed that the problems and obstacles were from the political aspect: lack of cooperation and support from many parties in the community and lack of introduction to moral and ethical development principles. The solutions to the problems start with the family aspect: parents should convey morality to their children and family members to make them know what is good and evil.
3. Guidelines for promoting morality in the community of ecclesiastic monks in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, it was found that the ecclesiastic monks should support or campaign the family for the cultivation of morality for their children to raise moral and ethical awareness. It is a way to create sustainable ethics for people in the community.
