Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to examine the current conditions of mass media studies curriculum management. 2) to study guidelines for mass media studies curriculum management based on Sangahavatthu IV. and 3) propose and evaluate guidelines for mass media studies curriculum management based on Sangahavatthu IV. A qualitative research approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 15 key informants to examine current conditions, in-depth interviews with five key informants, including monks and relevant experts, to develop the guidelines, and a focus group discussion with seven experts to propose and evaluate the guidelines. Data were analyzed using inductive analysis.

The findings were as follows:

  1. Regarding the current conditions of mass media studies curriculum management, educational institutions operated systematically, with clear policies and curriculum structures. The curriculum could be appropriately integrated with other learning areas, resulting in the development of students’ analytical thinking skills, media production skills, and creative communication. However, limitations were found in terms of budget, resources, technology, and learner diversity, which affected the effectiveness of curriculum implementation.

  2. The guidelines for mass media studies curriculum management based on sangahavatthu IV comprised seven components: preparation of educational institutions, curriculum development, planning for curriculum implementation, curriculum implementation, supervision, monitoring and evaluation, summarization of operational results, and curriculum improvement and development. These components were integrated with sangahavatthu IV and implemented through four operational stages: planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and improvement.

  3. The results of presenting the guidelines for mass media studies curriculum management based on sangahavatthu IV indicated that the experts unanimously agreed that the guidelines were appropriate, feasible, and beneficial. All components can be practically applied to the administration of the mass media education curriculum.
