             The research study investigated the cultural wisdom heritage of the Thung Yang’s local version of Sang Thong folktale in terms of literary knowledge of a long-told folk story and history behind the names of important places in Thung Yang Sub-district, Lablae District, Uttaradit Province from the story.

             According to sage villagers in Thung Yang Sub-district, the local version of Sang Thong is a cultural and language heritage of pride for local residents. It is believed to be    the original version of Sang Thong written by King Rama II. Sang Thong is a well-known, entertaining Thai folktale, whose main characters are Chao Ngo or Phra Sang and Nang Rotjana. It is also found that there are several actual places in Thung Yang that are associated with the story of Sang Thong.
