Media exposure behavior Awareness and Participation in marine debris Management, Si Chang island, Chonburi

Abstract

ABSTRACT

            The objectives of this research are 1). To compare the difference between the demographic characteristics and the media exposure behaviors on marine debris problems. 2). To compare the difference between demographic characteristics and the awareness of marine debris problems. 3). To compare the difference between demographic characteristics and the participation in marine debris management.

4). To study the relationship between the media exposure behaviors and the awareness of marine debris problems. 5). To study the relationship between the media exposure behaviors and the participation in marine debris management. 6). To study the relationship between the awareness of marine debris problem and the participation in marine debris management. The sample group were 400 peoples who live in Koh Si Chang District. The questionnaires were used as a tool to collect data. The data were analyzed by using the Independent Samples T-Test, (One-Way ANOVA), F-test, and Correlation Analysis statistical methods. Research results is the different demographic characteristics are: sex, education level, and average monthly income.

1). Have the behavior of exposure to information about the management of marine debris is different. 2). There are different perceptions about the management of marine debris. 3). The participation in the management of marine debris was significantly different at the 0.05 level.

            The correlation analysis found 4). Relationship between information exposure behavior about the problem of marine debris in the population with awareness about the problem of marine debris has a positive correlation and level (r=0.455). 5). Relationship between information exposure behavior about the problem of marine debris in the population. With participation in the management of the marine debris problem of the population has a positive correlation and level (r=0.534). 6). Relationship between awareness on marine debris and participation in marine debris management. There is a positive correlation and level (r=0.723)
