Development Approach for Aging Health Care Services in Udon Thani Province Thailand

Abstract

The purposes of this mixed methods research were:1) to study the problems for Aging health care services in Udon Thani Province Thailand 2) to develop approach for Aging health care services in Udon Thani Province Thailand 3) to evaluate for Aging health Care Services approach in Udon Thani Province Thailand. The research was divided in to three phases.

Phase1: the sample of this research consisted of 200 aging persons were drawn from Muang District and Udon thani Municipallity, using simple random sampling method, A questionnaire was employed as a research tool to collect data. The 5-rating-scale questionnaire, consisted of 6 different areas including of sex, education, age, occupation, status and family income. The data was then analyzed by percentage, mean standard deviation and midpoint of class interval based on the average score.

Phase 2 : The development of approach for aging health care services in Udon Thani Province were :1) the target groups to prepare draft for development aging approach for health care services in Udon Thani Province by learning exchange forum apply the participatory theory concept and multi – attribute consensus reaching techniques were 50 experts persons, professional and related persons by purposive selection. The research instrument are questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. 2) 20 experts and related persons by purposive selection to construct for development approach for aging health care services in Udon Thani Province by learning exchange forum apply the participatory theory concept and multi – attribute consensus reaching techniques.

Phase 3: Evaluate of the aging development approach to health care services in Udon Thani Province were: 1) to evaluate activities for aging health care services by mechanisms system healthy, as physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. The target group were 20 experts and related persons by purposive selection to attend focus group apply the participatory theory concept and multi – attribute consensus reaching techniques. The research instrument is semi-structured interviews. 2) to evaluate the results of aging development approach for health care services in Udon Thani Province. The target group were 20 experts and related persons by purposive selection to attend focus group forum apply the participatory theory concept and multi – attribute consensus reaching techniques. The research instrument is semi-structured interviews and statistic used percentage.

This research results showed that
Phase 1 : The Aging Health Care Services in Udon Thani Province problems were ; 1) The problems of establishing mechanisms and systems for Aging Health Care Services was found that the problems in the mental and emotional at higher level in all areas mean 3.80 , in the social and environmental as high level mean 3.75 , in intellectual (spiritual) as high level mean 3.58 and in physical as moderate level mean 3.41 2) The problems of health services and social services were the public areas in each community are few and limited, Insufficient exercise equipment and none local information link system to provide effective care and assistance to the elderly such as facebook or line which easy and save.

Phase 2 : The results of approach for Aging Health Care Services in Udon Thani Province Thailand have 100% rate confirmed were as follows: 1) family and community commitment with cooperation on the base of local knowledge and the networks related to spatial management. 2) local information link system to provide effective care and assistance to the elderly such as facebook or line and 3) self-management with discipline and continuity of sport activities that were Aging Health Care Services mechanisms and systems in healthy, physically, mentally, socially and spiritually.

Phase 3 : Evaluation results of approach for Aging Health Care Services in Udon Thani Province Thailand revealed that 1) the results of activities by percentage confirmed consensus were sports and 2) An approach for Aging Health Care Services in Udon Thani Province Thailand by percentage of members confirmed consensus, founds that: An approach for Aging Health Care Services was main mechanisms for the elderly to be healthy, physically, mentally, socially and spiritually.
