Abstract
The purposes of this study were to study and compare mathematics learning achievement and mathematics problem solving ability of Mathayomsuksa 2 students who were taught by student teams achievement division cooperative learning supplemented with Polya problem solving process before and after learning. The research sample consisted of 32 Mathayomsuksa 2 students of Sriboonruang District, Nongbualamphu Province. This research was conducted by means of One Group Pretest-Posttest design, using cluster sampling. The research instruments were lesson plans, a learning achievement test and a problem solving ability test. The collected data were statistically analyzed for mean, percentage, standard deviation and t-test for Dependent samples.
The research findings were as s follows:
- The students who learned through student teams achievement division cooperative learning supplemented with Polya problem solving process had the pretest mean score of mathematics learning achievement mean score was 9.97 or 33.23 percent and the posttest 23.97 or 79.90 percent which was no less than the set criterion of 75 percent. The posttest mean score was also statistically significant higher than the pretest.
- The students who learned through student teams achievement division cooperative learning supplemented with Polya problem solving process had the pretest mean score of mathematics solving abilities was 16.69 or 41.72 percent and the posttest mean score was 32.16 or 80.39 percent. The posttest mean score was also statistically significant higher than the pretest.
