Abstract

“A Study of The Isan folk music Pattern in Kalasin college of dramatic Arts: Lai Onsorn Isan” is qualitative research which used the methodology in Musicology. Studying data from fieldwork and searching the information from related documents are used for data collection. The purposes of the research are 1) Study the history of Isan folk music pattern in Kalasin college of dramatic Arts: Lai Onsorn Isan 2) Analyze the pattern of Isan folk music in Kalasin college of dramatic Arts: Lai Onsorn Isan

The result of the research was found that the history of Lai Onsorn Isan was composed by Ajarn Toolthongjai Sunglam. Because there were not many patterns used for playing in the past, this was created for using with Kan band. To compose the melody, the teacher asked the student for performing the melody. Then, the teacher figured out what melody was going to be. After that, the teacher thought about the approaches to accomplish the poetic flavor of the melody. By arranging the melody to be euphoric and beautiful, the pattern was created using imagination. the melody of Lai On Sorn Isan is similar to the Lai Nari Sri Isan and Lai Nari Isan.  The role of Lai On Sorn Isan is to show or play in the various events or activities occurring in  the Isan area. These are the goal of creating Lai Onsorn Isan.

From the analysis of Lai Onsorn Isan was found that Lai Onsorn Isan has 2 independent part, which are part A and part B by using composition techniques with the development of Sequence, Repetition and Rhythmic Motive. Melodic contour is a zigzag, an inverted arch, and an arch. It uses the chord structure from the Natural Minor in Key C Major Scale, Chord progression i - III - i and ending by perfect cadence.
