The Working Problems in Economic and Social Issues of the Elderly in Chaiyaphum Province

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to study the problems and obstacles of the elderly work groups and to find approaches to develop the elderly work potential. This qualitative research used for the research. The target population was the people who were 60 years old living in Chaiyaphum Province, including the chairman and members of the elderly groups. The research tools were in-depth interview, focus group and observation. The results revealed that the problems and obstacles for elderly work groups lacked leaders and members worked seriously; money did not motivate the members to work because the conditions of the groups, lack of tools to facilitate to continue and stable operation and cronyism management. The approaches to develop the elderly work potential in economy and society consisting of building members participation, providing activities to promote career to increase income, provide and develop supporting work and flexible management which adjusted appropriately.
