Wanida: An Adaptation from Novel to Television Drama

Abstract
This article aimed at analyzing the adaptation of novel ‘Wanida’ to television drama by using 4 horizontal intertextuality concepts were expansion, existing, adapting, and cutting including vertical intertextuality for analyzing plot, theme, character, and setting. The result found that the television drama remained the main plot and adapted the story with expansion method. The expansion was an incident adding between the antagonists to learn each other and fall in love reasonably. Theme was the same as in novel and added 1 topic differently. Characters were added their roles and numbers more than in novel for reality and increasing story problems. Setting was the same to novel, but some locations were more luxurious than novel. The next reproduction should add more reasons for protagonists.
